A new outdoor facility is hoping to give locals one more thing to do and hoping to give the local economy a boost.
Saturday was the Grand Opening of the Carroll Campbell Marine Complex in Georgetown.
The marina is named after the late governor of South Carolina.
The inaugural event featured a boat show, water sports, and a family friendly environment.
The complex is almost 20 acres in size and sits right on the Sampit River.
Locals and outdoor enthusiasts are hoping the site will attract sport fishing and other outdoor and water sports events.
"I think it'll be great for the local economy. It should help fishing economy very much," said Newman Weaver, a Georgetown local who attended the inaugural event with his wife and son.
The complex will have a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday at 10am.
The Carroll Campbell Marine Complex is located at the base of the bridge over the Sampit River on Highway 17 South.
