More than 400 job seekers came out for a job fair in Marion for the Softee Supreme Diaper Corporation.

The company eventually plans to hire 300 workers. Wednesday morning, people stood in line outside the Marion One Stop Center for a chance at the jobs. For many, the crowd was overwhelming. "I felt like turning around and going back home, that's exactly what I felt like doing," said Ricky Allen of Mullins.

"It's a long line, said Dion Avant of Marion, "I did want to turn, around but I knew I needed this job."

Job seekers filled the halls and the lobby inside, hoping to get a job with Softee Supreme Diaper Corporation. In October, the company announced they would hire 300 people to work at their Mullins plant. It came as good news to a county that had a 22.6% unemployment rate in December.

But Debora Smith with the One Stop Center says the county has a strong workforce. "A lot of people want to work, available to work, skilled to work."

Not only ready, willing and able, but confident as well. "Oh, I'm going to get one of the jobs. I have all confidence, yes," said Wanda Campbell of Mullins.

Softee Supreme has already hired about 50 workers.
