Sixth Republican enters race for SC's 1st District

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A sixth Republican has entered the race for South Carolina's 1st Congressional district seat.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported former Charleston County School Board member Larry Kobrovsky said Thursday he'll seek the nomination for the seat being given up by U.S. Rep. Henry Brown.
Other GOP candidates include Isle of Palms City Councilman Ryan Buckhannon, Charleston businessman Carroll Campbell, party activist Katherine Jenerette of North Myrtle Beach, Charleston County Councilman Paul Thurmond and former Brown aide, Stovall Witte.
Campbell is the son of the late Gov. Carroll Campbell and Thurmond is the son of the late U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond.
Three Democratic candidates are commercial pilot Robert Burton of Mount Pleasant, businessman Robert Dobbs of Georgetown and retired accountant Dick Withington of Horry County.
