The public works director for the Town of Surfside Beach is out of a job after the town council voted to fire him.

Last month, 45-year-old Robert Tyrone Taylor was charged with having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

Taylor was arrested while driving a town owned pickup on the beach.

At their meeting last night, council members approved Taylor's firing with a vote of 3-to-2.
