DSS takes custody of baby born with drugs in system

The Department of Social Services has taken custody of a newborn baby in Marlboro County after she was born with drugs in her system.
The baby was born December 21st at Chesterfield General Hospital in Cheraw. Police say the baby tested positive for crack cocaine and marijuana, and the 34-year-old mother tested positive for cocaine.
The incident report says DSS officials call this a physical neglect case.
The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office has not said if it plans to file charges against the mother.
