A Grand Strand business owner says he will help make the holidays brighter for at least 2,000 families this Christmas.
Gary Bingham owns Savemore Superstore in Socastee and has spent tens of thousands of dollars on food, toys and clothes that will be given away Saturday, Dec. 19 beginning at noon.
Last year, Bingham said he provided for close to 1,000 families, and he said the idea is simple: to give back.
"The goal is that every year we double or triple that amount and that other businesses will get involved and then before you know it ... there won't be any need people in Horry County. That's the goal."
Bingham also owns a wholesale company that buys overstock items from big box stores like Wal-Mart.
Bingham plans to spend an additional $10,000 at Wal-Mart and K-Mart on even more toys for this coming weekend. He also asks any business that can or wants to help to please do so.
For families in need, Bingham asks that they contact him so that he can prepare for their specific needs. The number is 843-294-2622.
Where: Savemore Superstore at 5033 Dick Pond Road (near the base of the big bridge heading over the intracoastal waterway and across from the Bi-Lo shopping center).
When: Saturday, Dec. 19, at 12:00 p.m.
