The Pee Dee Division of the South Carolina Chapter of the March of Dimes hosted their inaugural "Healthy Birthday" celebration Tuesday night at Market Common in Myrtle Beach.

The party is an effort to celebrate the lives of healthy babies everywhere. Organizers say the goal is to honor the lives of our children and create awareness for the March of Dimes and the work they do to increase the number of healthy babies born.

Crystal Hummer with the Pee Dee March of Dimes says, "Instead of us just focusing on those babies that need help, the March of Dimes wants to move toward the day that every baby is born healthy, and that's our goal. So we decided we would celebrate all babies today, those born healthy and those who need our help."

The March of Dimes supports lifesaving research, community services, education and advocacy that helps babies get a healthy start.
