Saturday afternoon was a busy one for rescue crews and first responders on the Grand Strand.

Four people had to be rescued from different locations just minutes apart, one of whom did not survive.

That drowning marks the sixth drowning in the ocean this season on the Grand Strand.

That drowning happened near the Springmaid Pier on the south end of Myrtle Beach.

We're told that a 53 year old man from Little River was pulled from the ocean after witnesses noticed him struggling.

Rescue crews performed CPR and rushed the man to the hospital, but he soon died.

The Horry County Coroner's Office has not released his name yet.

Just a few minutes after that incident, police were called to another swimmer-in-distress call just a few blocks away at 28th Avenue South in Myrtle Beach.

Police say they pulled three swimmers from the ocean. They were treated by EMS and released shortly after.
