The fatal weekend on area roadways continued Sunday, as two more people died and one person was charged with felony DUI. At least four lives were lost in less than 48 hours on the roads of the Pee Dee and Grand Strand.
The latest accident happened in Horry County Sunday evening on Highway 348, about four miles south of loris.
South Carolina Highway Patrol says around 5:30pm, a 32-year-old Tabor City man was driving west on 348 when he ran off the side of the road, lost control, and overturned his truck.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says Javier Atlahuac-Tezoyotl was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The other Sunday fatality happened when a second person died in an accident that happened around 12:15am on Saturday.
In Darlington County, just south of Hartsville, highway patrol says a car was stopped at a red light on Highway 15 when an SUV slammed into that car -- rear-ending it.
The driver of the SUV has been charged with felony DUI.
17 year old Artivas Gilbert Brown was a passenger in the car that was rear-ended.
Saturday, he was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but then died Sunday morning.
19 year old Antonio McFadden -- also a passenger in the car -- died Saturday.
A third passenger remains in critical condition.
Also on Saturday morning, a Marlboro County man was killed when he lost control of his car just outside of Bennettsville.
