The NewsChannel 15 newsroom took calls Tuesday from many cell phone users, upset about receiving a text message about a security breach at Conway National Bank on their cell phones.
The text message reads as follows: FROM CONWAY NATIONAL BANK MSG IMPORTANT CONWAY NATIONAL BANK MESSAGE #481 SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY TOLL FREE CALL 800-763-7203
Many viewers contacted us saying when you call the toll free number, they were asked to enter a credit or debit card number.
NewsChannel 15 has confirmed that the text message is a scam, and was reportedly received by cell phone users throughout the United States.
HTC's customer service department and a Conway National Bank spokesperson tells us the Federal Trade Commission had shut down the toll free number listed in the text message.
But when we called the number, we still got a recording asking us to enter our credit or debit card number.
The best advice if you receive this or any similar type of text message, email or phone call, is to contact your bank directly.
