Black Friday is always a busy day for retail stores but this year in South Carolina, gun shops may have sales through the roof.

For the first time, the state has a sales tax holiday on firearms this Friday and Saturday.

In June, lawmakers overrode Governor Sanford's veto and passed the 2nd Amendment Recognition Act.

"I think it's a fact of the government recognizing that the majority of people in South Carolina believe in the second amendment, the right to hold and bear firearms, and they're a major major part of the buying public, and because of that I think it's very comforting to know that the government recognizes that," said Ted Gragg, Myrtle Beach Indoor Shooting Range.

The sales tax holiday lasts 48 hours.

Modern handguns, shotguns and rifles will be tax-free starting Friday just after midnight.

Ammunition is still taxable.
