Myrtle Beach firefighters were called to the Aquarius Motel around 10:33 a.m. Tuesday.
The motel is located on 12th Avenue North and Chester Street in Myrtle Beach.
Someone at a resort across the street spotted a fire at the motel and called emergency officials. Investigators say the fire damaged the third floor of the motel.
Firefighters did two searches and didn't find anyone inside. One dog died in the fire.
