DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) - A Darlington County man died in a crash on Secondary Highway 24, or East Carolina Avenue, about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, according to Highway Patrol.

Coroner J. Todd Hardee identified the victim as Fredrick Dix, 41, of Lydia.

Cpl. Bob Beres says Dix was traveling west, about one mile east of Hartsville, when his 2003 Chevy Suburban ran off the right side of the road, hit two driveways, and overturned.

Hardee says Dix died instantly from his injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

His 8-year-old son was not wearing a seat belt. He was ejected from the car and taken to Carolina Pines Hospital, according to Cpl. Beres. There's no word on the extent of his injuries.

Highway Patrol and the Darlington County Coroner's office is investigating.
