The Kingstree High School football team is learning the value of community service.

The team spent part of Monday morning reading books to students at Kenneth Gardner Elementary School.

The players say they want to do more to show their gratitude for the community's support during football season.

They say it warmed their hearts to make the students smile.

"It feels really good coming out here and reading to the young kids, because I love reading. So, reading to kids was easy for me," said player Deon Bradley.

The school's principal says her students will get a lot of the team's visit.

"They're giving back to our school. They're coming back and reading to our students letting our students know that even when they leave our school they're still expected to read because reading is so very important," said Jennifer Gardner, Principal.

The team's coach says it's important for his players to understand no matter what position they hold in life, they should always want to give back.

"It gives a great example of what our football team is like and our players when they're off the field not playing football," explained Coach Charlie Brown.

The team also made a stop to Vital Aging of Williamsburg County.

They played bingo with the seniors and shared football stories with them.
