KG "Rusty" Smith said he started his new Florence County administrator's job Monday morning.
He said there's a lot of work to catch up on that was left behind by the former administrator, Thomas Robinson, who resigned earlier this month after 13 months on the job.
Smith said his not sure of his exact salary, but that he's making about $7,000 less than Robinson.
Smith stated he's so excited about job that he reported in to work Monday morning at 5:45 a.m.
Florence County Council members voted last Thursday to offer the Florence County Council Chairman the position. He then resigned before accepting the administrator's position.
Smith was up for the job last year, but withdrew his name due to controversy about his position as chairman.
