Florence Police Chief Anson Shells tells NewsChannel 15 officers responded to a murder suicide Friday night. It happened at a home on East Sam Harrell Road around 9:30 p.m.
Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews identified the two people who died as Shannon Hall Gomez, 32, and Stephen Raymond Davis, 40.
Chief Shells says Davis got upset with Gomez, beat her with a pistol, then shot her twice. She died at the scene.
Matthews says Gomez was shot in the upper part of her body.
Chief Shells adds Davis went to a back room and shot himself.
The couple lived together.
Major Carlos Raines says the home where the incident happened belonged to one of Davis' relatives.
