Marion police say they arrested two men in separate burglaries this week.

They charged Tareance D. Charles, 19, with Second Degree Burglary and Failure to Stop on Command.

Police say they were patrolling the area around East Oakenwald and Main Streets about 8 a.m. Wednesday when they saw Charles carrying a backpack.

They say when they questioned him, Charles dropped the backpack and ran.

Officers caught up with him and say they found a digital camera, a camcorder, e-readers and other items.

Police also charged Justin Levan Howard, 24, with Possession of Stolen Goods, and Possession of Burglary Tools.

Officers found Howard in a parked car behind a Fairlee Street business around 1:50 a.m. Friday and started questioning him.

Howard allowed officers to search the vehicle, they say. They found old spoons, a jewelry box, screw driver, wrench, jewelry, and prescription medicines, as well as other household and personal items.

Police found a home on East Fairlee Street had its back door pried open.

The two suspects have been booked into and are being held in the Marion County Detention Center.

More charges are expected.
