A man died in a crash on Secondary 42, or Penny Royal Road, about 2:40 a.m. Monday, according to Cpl. Bob Beres with South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Winston Jeffrey Ladson, 47, of Georgetown was killed in the wreck, Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson said.
The BMW he was driving was going wes,t when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a large tree stump.
Ladson was not wearing a seat belt, Cpt. Beres said.
There were no other cars involved.
