Octavio Huicho Flores, 26, of Mexico, was sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Florence for illegally reentering the United States after being convicted of an aggravated felony.

United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten sentenced Flores to 30 months.

Evidence presented at the guilty plea hearing showed Flores was a citizen of Mexico and entered the United States illegally on December 1, 1996. On November 10, 1999, Flores was convicted in California for child cruelty: possible injury/death and false imprisonment, and received a sentence of 56 months in jail. On February 25, 2002, Flores was deported to Mexico.

Flores then illegally entered the United States and was found at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County on January 30, 2012.
