Lewis John "Jay" Harward, Jr., the band director at Carolina Forest High School from July 2010 to June 2012, was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 12.
Harward was indicted as part of a case involving Joe Gibson's Auto World in Spartanburg.
Harward worked as the general sales manager at Joe Gibson's Suzuki during the period 2006-2008 when federal officials say he and others devised "...a scheme and artifice to defraud and to obtain money from the purchasers of automobiles by means of false and fraudulent pretenses...," according to the indictment.
Harward pleaded not guilty last Thursday, according to WIS-TV in Columbia. Http://www.wistv.com/story/19668837/band-director-faces-federal-fraudulent-charges?clienttype=printable
