The Coastal Carolina University Cheerleading Coach who was arrested on September 10 has resigned.

Conway police charged Elizabeth Appenzeller, 31, with Resisting Arrest, Assault while Resisting Arrest/Assault on a Police Officer, Public Disorderly/Public Intoxication, and Criminal Domestic Violence.

Police say a man called and said she hit him in the face and wouldn't get out of his truck when he broke up with her.

Police told her to get out of the truck, but say she kicked officers trying to arrest her.

CCU Sports Information Director Mike Cawood says Appenzeller resigned on Friday. An assistant coach will take over the squad until the college can find a replacement.

Appenzeller has been the cheerleading coach since 2009.
