The head cheerleading coach at Coastal Carolina University was charged with Resisting Arrest, Assault while Resisting Arrest/Assault on a Police Officer, Public Disorderly/Public Intoxication, and Criminal Domestic Violence on Sunday.

Elizabeth Hadley Appenzeller, 31, of Conway, was booked at 3:20 p.m.

Conway police were called to Odiham Place by a man who said he had been in a relationship with Appenzeller but was trying to end it and she was refusing to leave the bed of his pick up truck, according to a Conway Police Department arrest report.

The responding officer told Appenzeller to leave the truck or she would be arrested for trespassing.

Appenzeller got out but then became "loud and boisterous and used profanity," according to the report.

Because she was swearing in close proximity to a public ball field, officers say they grabbed her by the arm to escort her out of public view.

Appenzeller jerked her arm away and cursed at the officers, according to the report, so they told her she was under arrest for Disorderly Conduct.

The officer say she continued to jerk away from them and kick them as they tried to physically place her under arrest.

The Criminal Domestic Violence charge stems from the victim's allegation that she struck him in the face before police arrived.

Appenzeller has been the CCU cheerleading coach since 2009, according to Doug Bell, spokesperson at Coastal Carolina University.

Bell said it is too early in the process to say if disciplinary action will be taken.
