District administrators for the Marion County School District say someone called Mullins Police Department saying there was a bomb at Palmetto Middle School Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say the call came in just as students were being dismissed for the day.

Students were let out from the front of the building as officers searched the school.

Police canvassed the building and didn't find a bomb or any other explosive device.

"We followed all safety procedures and students were able to be sent home safely," said Dr. Dan Strickland, Superintendent of Schools.
