McLeod Hospice House unveiled its new addition Friday.

It includes 12 inpatient rooms, two family comfort areas and new office space.

The rooms include beds for families to spend the night and access to the outdoors. There's even a new garden and courtyard.

The Hospice House now has a total of 24 inpatient rooms to take care of the critically ill.

"Some of our patients have symptoms that need to be controlled in a hospital setting , but they don't necessarily want to go to a hospital. So these rooms are going to allow us to be able to take care of those patients in a home-like environment and give them peace and beauty and love at the end of life, " said Pamela Worthy with McLeod Hospice House.

McLeod Hospice House opened in 2005 and is the only inpatient hospice facility in the region.

It serves patients in Florence, Darlington, Dillon, Lee, Marion, Clarendon and Williamsburg Counties.

The facility is located on Cheves Street in Florence.
