Students in the Pee Dee got some free school supplies from some local leaders Friday.

Congressional candidates Tom Rice and former Coastal Carolina University head football coach David Bennett handed out supplies in Marion, Dillon and Marlboro counties.

They gave out notebooks, pencils, and binders to more than 1,500 people.

Many of the parents say they are thankful for the free supplies.

In November, Rice will face Gloria Bromell Tinubu who is the democratic nominee for the 7th Congressional district.
