SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A Spartanburg woman faces upgraded charges in the death of her 7-year-old daughter, who was thrown from a sport utility vehicle following a high-speed chase on Interstate 85.
Judge James Ashmore denied bond Saturday for 26-year-old Errika Shelton. Her daughter died from injuries stemming from the high-speed chase last Monday that ended with her SUV rolling over into the median.
Solicitor Barry Barnette had upgraded two of the traffic charges.
Shelton is accused of reckless homicide and habitual traffic offender causing death on a suspended license.
She also faces charges of failing to stop for a blue light, driving under suspension and unlawful neglect of a child and possession of marijuana.
Her attorney Frank Eppes requested a $150,000 bond. Eppes says Shelton wanted to attend her daughter's funeral Sunday.
