(AP) -- The Horry County coroner says a mix-up lead to an autopsy being performed on the wrong body last month.
Coroner Robert Edge says the mix-up happened July 19 when a transmit company picked up the wrong man's body from a funeral home.
Doctors at Grand Stand Regional Hospital in Myrtle Beach performed the autopsy before the mistake was discovered. The doctors performed an autopsy on the correct body the next day.
Edge says the mistake was not by the funeral home.
The names of the men, the funeral home and the transport company have not been released.
Edge says he was told the family of the man mistakenly autopsied was not upset.
