NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- The banner plane that crashed into the ocean near the 4300 block of South Ocean Boulevard in North Myrtle Beach Wednesday won't be removed today.

"It may be two to three days before the retrieval occurs," said North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling in a press release Thursday. "Apparently, it will take some time to acquire the equipment and some personnel required to safely and successfully accomplish the retrieval."

The pilot survived the crash.

Dowling says the plane's location is marked and will be monitored. He says the plane is not a threat to boats or swimmers.
