In a recount of the votes Monday in the Senate 32 Democratic primary race, Yancey McGill is officially the winner by just 80 votes out of more than 12,600 cast.
After last Tuesday's primary, the difference between the incumbent McGill and his challenger Cezar McKnight was less than one percent. That triggered an automatic recount as ordered by the South Carolina Election Commission.
With votes recounted from all five counties included this district, McGill officially received 6,376 votes and McKnight received 6,296.
This seat represents parts of Horry, Georgetown, Florence, Williamsburg, and Berkeley counties.
McGill faces no Republican opposition in the November general election.
