Myrtle Waves Water Park was part of an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest swimming lesson.
Water parks and public pools all around the country were hosting the event today.
The lesson was meant to raise awareness of drowning.
For ages one to 14, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death.
"Most do not realize 80% of drowning could be prevented just by education and swimming lessons. We had a lot of excitement over the event," says Carla Shaw of Myrtle Waves.
The swim lesson is trying to break last year's record of more than 20,000 children and adults in 14 countries on five continents taking part.
No word on when Guiness will rule on the attempt.
