Myrtle Beach police arrested a man for beating his wife so badly, she was covered in blood and both of her eyes were swollen shut, according to the police report.

Denny William Vanderhyde, 40, was charged with Kidnapping, Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature and 1st Degree Burglary.

On Wednesday, officers were called to an apartment on Brewster Drive for a disturbance. After knocking on the apartment door several times with no answer, officers were told by a neighbor that yelling and the slamming of doors could be heard earlier, according to the report. Officers went around the back of the apartment and found a woman, covered in blood, coming over the balcony railing. She said, "Help me! I'm dead!"

When officers got to her, she told them Vanderhyde would kill her. The woman was treated by EMS.

Vanderhyde was found in the apartment. He is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
