PAWLEYS ISLAND -- A Pawleys Island woman, who told lottery officials she wanted to remain anonymous, said she plans to use some of her $250,000 winnings to fix her leaky roof.
She said fixing up her home has been a dream.
Last week she bought a $10 scratch-off from the Hot Spot on Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island and was shocked to see it was worth a quarter of a million dollars.
"I was in shock," she told the South Carolina Education Lottery.
She drove straight home and met her daughter in the driveway. Her daughter slipped the Pyramid Riches ticket between the pages of her Bible. To calm down, the two went for a drive. The conversation turned to her leaky roof and how she won't have to worry the next time it rains.
"I've been praying for this," she said.
The Hot Spot got $2,500 for selling the ticket.
