COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Richland County deputies say they spent seven hours staking out a home after a woman falsely claimed she was being held hostage there.

Authorities say they responded to a home at around 1 a.m. Saturday after a woman called and said her ex-boyfriend was holding here against her will.

Officers set up a perimeter and began efforts to get the man to come outside. At around 8:30 a.m., deputies knocked on the door and were told by the boyfriend's father that neither his son nor the ex-girlfriend were there.

Deputies are now looking for the woman who made the call. They say she will be charged with filing a false report and illegal use of a telephone.
