Circuit Court Michael Nettles has granted the prosecution's request to delay the trial of Hiralkumar Gopaldas, the man accused of stabbing to death his wife and her mother at their home at the Country Club of South Carolina, last June.
The trial was scheduled to begin June 11.
Court officials say prosecutors argued the investigation is still ongoing, and the case hasn't gone to grand jury for a possible indictment.
Gopaldas' attorney Rosemary Parham says her client has a right to a speedy trial, and they are ready to try the case on June 11.
Now, Gopaldas will be back in court on July 11.
At that time, the prosecution is expected to let the court know if they will present the case to the grand jury in effort to set a new trial date.
Gopaldas remains out of jail and under house arrest.
