The Coastal Carolina University campus is quiet this time of year. Now that students have moved back home for the summer, they have been replaced by PODS to collect the things the co-eds left behind.
It's for a program called Campus Salvage that began in 2008.
Fourteen PODS have already been filled with things like mini refrigerators, and televisions while several other PODS are full of clothing, bedding and cleaning items.
"The biggest goal is we're trying to keep it out of the landfill, because otherwise, these items would end up in the trash," Jennifer Sellers, the Sustainability Coordinator for CCU.
All week, volunteers will take the clothes and cleaning items to several charities, and the bedding will be donated to animal shelters.
There is an opportunity for you to buy some of the larger items. A sale will be held on Saturday, May 12th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Atlantic Center in Conway. The money raised will go to the CCU Student Green Fund.
Any items not sold will be taken to Goodwill.
