Florence police say Tuesday afternoon, a woman caught a man burglarizing her home on Franklin Avenue.

Officers say the man told the woman he had a gun and forced her to lie on the floor.

They say the man stole items from the woman's home and left.

After she was sure the man was gone, the woman called 911.

Police say deputies with the Florence County Sheriff's Office spotted the man driving the woman's car on South Cashua Drive.

They started chasing him and that's when officers say he crashed the car into a pole, jumped out and took off running.

Officers tracked him down and took the man into custody.

Police are still gathering all the details before they file any charges.
