A state agency says an employee leaked the personal information of 228,000 people.

Christopher Lykes, 36, of Swansea is charged with five counts of Medically Indigent Act Confidentiality Violation and one count of Disclosure of Confidential Information.

Department of Health and Human Services(http://www2.scdhhs.gov/) officials say Lykes sent Medicaid information, including names and social security numbers, to a private email account.

An investigation that started April 10th showed the information was transferred to at least one other person.

Lykes was fired.
