More than 100 art students from around Horry County got to show off their work Saturday.
It was on the Coastal Carolina University campus, as part of CCU's Art Education day.
For the last few months, CCU art education graduate students have been working on a project called "Artists in Your Own Backyard".
The grad students interviewed local artists, developed lesson plans inspired by them and then taught those plans in Horry County schools.
The result was art created by local students, which may inspire them to pursue art careers.
"When they see that people who are living today are making a living as an artist and they live in places like this, an artistic career is possible," said grad student Evan Donevant.
Earlier this month, the grad students presented their project at the National Art Education Association's annual conference in New York City, where they say it was well received.
