A Little River woman died Friday night when the car she was driving went into the Intracoastal Waterway.

Deputy Horry County coroner Darris Fowler says Brenda Powers, 62, was found dead in her car. Fowler said the car went into the water near the Little River swing bridge.

He said the investigation continues into how her car ended up in the waterway, though foul play is not suspected.

North Myrtle Beach Public Safety, Horry County Fire Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the scene shortly before 10 p.m. Friday.
