Latta police say Jesse Barr was shot to death at a home on Antonio Street in Latta around 4 a.m. Tuesday. They say the suspect was also wounded.
Chief Crystal Moore says they charged Willie "Waldo" Morrison with murder.
She says Morrison shot Barr, who was able to walk to a neighbor's home after the shooting. She says Barr identified Morrison as the suspect to both the neighbor and police.
Police found Morrison at at Florence hospital with a gunshot wound. He will be taken to the Dillon County Detention Center.
Chief Moore says she isn't sure how Morrison was shot, but says there are signs of a struggle outside Barr's home. She says there is also a trail of blood from Barr's house leading to Leitner Street, which is a few blocks away.
State police are helping to process the crime scene.
