PAWLEYS ISLAND -- Midway firefighters responded to a house fire on Annie Rainey Lane off Martin Luther King Boulevard around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Spokesman Bob Bebee says a woman and her son were home when the fire started. They managed to get out and get to a neighbor's home.

Bebee says, when firefighters arrived, flames were coming from a side bedroom window. Crews attacked the fire inside and had the fire knocked down in about ten minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Crews from Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire, Georgetown City Fire and Georgetown County Fire also responded.
