COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's new seventh congressional district doesn't just mean a new person from the state in the U.S. House. It also means dozens of state boards will get a new member.

The State newspaper in Columbia reports that about 60 state boards require one member from each congressional district in the state. Those include major boards like the Department of Transportation and Department of Health and Environmental Control and minor one like the Chiropractic Examiners board and the commission that runs the State Museum.

Some boards plan to simply add a new member. Others will convert at at-large seat into the seat from the new district. The way the new members will be selected also differs. Some will be picked by the governor, others by lawmakers.
