The committee organizing Little River's Blue Crab Festival met with community leaders Monday afternoon to bring everyone up to speed on where the festival planning stands.
The festival was canceled by the original organizers last December.
The committee has applied for 501-C3 non-profit status and hopes to have it with in the next 90 days. The festival is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of May 19th & 20th.
Committee members reported having 70 vendors lined up, as well as local Carolina bands for entertainment.
The festival will be officially called the "World Famous Little River Blue Crab Festival."
Committee members are looking into restricting outside seafood vendors from the festival so that local restaurants serving local seafood will be showcased.
The group is in contact with the state with plans to apply for a beer and wine permit.
Horry County councilman Harold Worley, who represents the Little River area, stepped in to help organize the 2012 festival after the original organizers canceled it.
