Harvey Cox, the man accused of faking his death to avoid a criminal sexual conduct charge, is expected to be in a Charleston courtroom Tuesday morning for jury selection for his March 26th trial.
Cox faces a superseding indictment for intentionally causing the U.S. Coast Guard to conduct a search and rescue operation when no help was needed. He also faces charges in the manufacturing and production of child pornography, and possession of child pornography.
Deputies say Cox left his boat, wallet and truck at a landing in Murrells Inlet in January 2011. The Coast Guard, Department of Natural Resources and Georgetown County Sheriff's Office looked for him for days. Deputies in Florida arrested him in March.
Florence County deputies charged Cox with committing a lewd act upon a minor, criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and sexual exploitation of a minor. Warrants show Cox committed the acts with three victims between November 1999 and January 2011.
Judge David C. Norton is presiding over both jury selection and trial.
