A candlelight vigil for missing lobbyist Tom Sponseller is planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at the State House in Columbia.
Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott says a relative reported Sponseller missing Saturday. He was last seen at work in downtown Columbia around noon that day.
Sponseller is also the president and chief executive of the state Hospitality Association.
South Carolina senators held a moment of silence for Sponseller Tuesday during the opening minutes of the day's session.
Sponseller is well-known at the Statehouse for representing the tourism industry.
Columbia police have asked the public for help in the search. A billboard has been put up on I-77 near Tyvola Road in Charlotte asking drivers if they've seen him.
Sponseller's car was found in a lot next to his office in Columbia.
His family and friends say it isn't like him not to stay in touch, and they are concerned about his well being.
The Greenville native is a graduate of The Citadel and is married with three adult children.
The Sponseller family has set up a Facebook page for people to get and share information about Tom's disappearance.
