MARION COUNTY -- Peter O'Boyle, spokesperson for the SC Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, says agent Michelle Barnhill has been suspended pending an internal investigation into why she was at a home on South Main Street in Mulllins where a drug raid took place, last Friday night.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office tell NewsChannel 15 Barnhill was not charged in the incident.
Deputies say Derick Chad Hardwick, 31, was arrested and charged in the raid. He faces two counts of distribution of cocaine, two counts of distribution of a scheduled IV controlled substance, distribution of a scheduled III controlled substance, five counts of distribution of controlled substance within the proximity to a school or park, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of anabolic steroids.
O'Boyle says if their investigation finds any criminal actions on Barnhill's part, they will turn it over to the State Law Enforcement Division.
We're told Barnhill has been with the agency for many years.
NewsChannel 15 will let you know what the outcome of the internal investigation as soon as it's made available to us.
