South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate an accident that killed two brothers after their car collided with a log truck in Georgetown County.
The collision happened just before 10:00 p.m. Friday on Powell Road in the Sampit Community.
The brothers were in a Chevrolet Corvette when it hit the log truck as it backed into a private driveway, according to SCHP Cpl. Judd Jones.
SCHP's Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) has yet to determine how fast the Corvette was going at the time of the collision, SCHP Cpl. Sonny Collins said. MAIT will also look into whether the Corvette had an in-car black box data recorder, which most new cars contain.
Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson says the victims are Willie Duncan, 58, of Newport News, Virginia and Willie Deas, 57, of Georgetown.
Both brothers died at the scene.
