DILLON -- Thursday afternoon, 150 children and their parents gathered at the Outreach Family Church in Dillon County.
They all had vouchers to receive free bicycles courtesy of Campus Crest of Charlotte.
The company's chief executive officer and chief investment officer say they always want to help those in need.
"We started this six years ago and our company's grown through the last eight years. We're all over the country now doing this sort of thing," said Ted Rollins, Chief Executive Officer, Campus Crest.
"Campus Crest is all about giving back. Our service program is called the Grove Outreach or called the " Go Team" and a big part of what we do is give back to the communities. So this is the cornerstone of our company right here," said Mike Hartnett, Chief Investment Officer, Campus Crest.
Campus Crest has donated bikes to the Dillon community for the last three years. They found out about the community through James Stevens. He's a native of Dillon County and a comedian who travels all over the country.
Rollins said, "We started this six years ago and our company's grown through the last eight years. We're all over the country now doing this sort of thing. But we met James Stevens, who's from Dillon, at another charity even. He talked with us about his foundation here."
The pastor of Outreach Family Center says the community of Dillon should feel blessed that Campus Crest thought of them.
"It's encouraging, especially when we consider the times and a lot of people are not working, a lot of the families wouldn't have been able to get anything especially nothing like a bicycle for Christmas," Bishop Michael Goings, Outreach Family Church.
Many of the kids started riding their bikes right away. Their parents say they're grateful because they couldn't afford to buy brand new bikes for their children.
Campus Crest also gave away free turkeys to Dillon residents for Thanksgiving.
