Horry County police arrested a Black Water Middle School student for making a bomb threat.

According to a police press release, the school resource officer assigned to Black Water was told of a bomb threat around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday. The officer learned from a bus driver that a student had approached her and told her to get off the bus because there was a bomb on it.

Students were taken off of the bus so it could be searched. No explosive devices were found and the students were allowed to get back on, according to the press release.

The 11-year-old student was taken into custody and charged through family court with conveying false information regarding the attempted use of a destructive device. The student was released to a parent.
