Shopping for the holiday season is hard enough. But it's even more difficult when you're trying to purchase gifts strictly made in the United States.

"Difficult?" said Loris resident Greg Holshu, "It's nearly impossible."

Holshu stopped in the Toys 'R' Us in Myrtle Beach to buy his grandson the Legos' Mega Blocks Halo series. In the small print at the bottom of the box, it says 'components made in Canada and China'."

ABC News challenged the American people this season to shop for gifts produced in the U.S. But obtaining that goal may seem like pie in the sky when you talk about the most wanted gifts.

"You don't see a lot of American made things that are very popular," said Myrtle Beach resident Siera Cooper.

When you look at the top selling items this Christmas season, an overwhelming majority of the products in demand are made out of the country.

Other than wanting a new car, Cooper wants an iPhone 4S this season. The iPhone 4 is designed in California, but made in Korea and Taiwan and assembled in China.

Ken Ferrick of Myrtle Beach wants the number one most requested gift this Christmas. "My top priority is the Kindle Fire because I love to read, and I love to read sports books," said Ferrick.

The Kindle Fire is manufactured in China.

For his second gift, "I'd love to have a Schwinn Bicycle," Ferrick is positive it's made in America.

Not so fast Ken. The once popular American bicycle company now makes its bikes in China.

What about clothes? ABC News reports 98 percent of the clothing purchased in the United States is imported from abroad. Just two percent of clothing bought in this country is manufactured on U.S. soil.

Often Nintendo Wii games are made in the USA, but the popular gaming device console is made in Japan.

Disney's Fisher-Price Dance Star Mickey is a coveted toy for American children this year, but the mouse is made in China.

"Ideally, I would like a 50 inch HDTV," said Loris resident Chadwick Johnson. Finding electronics, let alone televisions made in the U.S., is difficult enough.

Larry Gebar, a snowbird in Myrtle Beach from Pennsylvania, is buying his grandchildren a Kindle. But what he wants for himself are golfclubs.

"I'm big golf fan. I'm always looking for a new club. Something that will get me a little more distance like everyone else," said Gebar. "I don't know where golf clubs are made. I'm a big Taylor Made fan."

Taylor Made produces its clubs in California.

There are plenty products made in America that will be someone's gift this holiday season.

Do you plan to shop 'American Made' this holiday season? If so what products do you plan to give?
